Building Workstation Views

A user's working space comprises views, which contain widgets used for various workflows critical to data analysis.

Views are highly customizable workspaces designed for data analysis. Multiple views can be utilized to filter multiple distinct streams of system generated events over time, or to shift the focus of analysis (such as a workspace dedicated to Collections and another to event or risk history).

Note

Views are self-contained, unless that view is shared as a view template.

This guide walks through creating user views, adding and working with widgets, and managing any existing user views.

Assumptions

This guide assumes you are logged into Cogynt Workstation with the following minimum user permissions:

  • Read and write permissions for Workstation Views.

Creating Views

To create a view:

  1. On the drawer on the left of the Workstation homepage, click the + icon.
  2. In the open drawer panel, enter a Name for the new view.
  3. Provide an optional Description to help differentiate the view.
  4. Click the Create button to create the view.

Tip

It can be useful to have a view specifically for testing during Workstation setup and as new data is ingested. Use this space to test various widgets, view layouts, and configurations.

Once a suitable configuration is found, configure a view template to duplicate it or share it with other users.

Once a view is created, users can populate it with widgets. Users can create as many views as needed, and can easily navigate between views.

Opening and Closing Existing Views

Users can open one or multiple views in Cogynt Workstation from the Home page.

To open a view:

  1. Locate the view you wish to open by its name.
  2. In the bottom-right of the view, click the Open icon.
  3. Click the Home page and repeat step 1-2 as needed to open additional views.

To close a view:

  1. At the top center of your screen, locate the view tab.
  2. Click the close icon (X).

Navigating between views helps seamlessly shift the focus of a workflow and build out complex views for data analysis.

To navigate to any other open view:

  1. At the top-center of the screen, locate the view tab you wish to switch to by its name.
  2. Click the view tab.

Deleting Views

If a view was created by mistake, or is no longer necessary, it can be deleted.

To delete a view:

  1. In the navigation bar, click the Home tab.
  2. Locate the view you wish to delete, and click the More menu () to access options.
  3. Click Delete...

Warning

Deleted views cannot be recovered, however deleting a view does not delete any events, collections, or any other data.
