Managing Tags

Cogynt Authoring lets users create and apply tags to patterns. Tags help facilitate the organization, identification, and retrieval of patterns.

Viewing Tags

Information about tags is gathered on the Project Settings screen for convenient reference.

To view tags:

  1. Navigate to the Project Settings screen.
  2. On the left side of the screen, click Tags.

Tag information is displayed in the Tags section:

  • The number beside the Tags section heading reflects how many tags are currently available. It increases when a tag is created, and decreases when a tag is deleted.
  • The Name column displays the name and color of each tag.
  • The Referenced column displays the number of patterns to which the tag has been applied (i.e., that reference the tag).

Creating Tags

New tags can be created as needed.

To create a new tag:

  1. On the Project Settings screen, in the Tags section, click + New Tag.
  2. In the New Tag window:
    1. From the Color dropdown menu, select a color for the tag.
    2. In the Name field, enter a name for the tag.
    3. Click Save to create the tag, or Cancel to discard it.

Once a tag has been created, it appears in the the Project Settings screen's Tags list.

Adding Tags to Patterns

Tags can be applied to patterns as needed.

To add a tag to a pattern:

  1. In the project workspace, click the pattern to tag.
  2. In the upper-right of the pattern's information panel, click the Tag icon.
  3. Select the appropriate tag from the list, or create a new tag if necessary.

Tags added to a pattern appear as individual chips below the pattern's name in the information panel.

Editing Tags

Tag details can be modified as necessary.

To edit an existing tag:

  1. On the Project Settings screen, in the Tags section, locate the tag to edit.
  2. Click the corresponding Edit (pencil) icon.
  3. In the Edit Tag window:
    1. From the Color dropdown menu, select a color for the tag.
    2. In the Name field, enter a name for the tag.
    3. In the Referencing Patterns section, note the patterns that your changes will affect.
    4. Click Save to create the tag, or Cancel to discard it.

Deleting Tags

Tags that are no longer needed, or were created in error, can be removed from Authoring.

To delete an existing tag:

  1. On the Project Settings screen, in the Tags section, locate the tag to delete.
  2. Click the corresponding More () icon.
  3. Select Delete.
  4. In the Delete Tag window:
    1. In the Referencing Patterns section, note the patterns that your changes will affect.
    2. Click Delete to delete the tag, or Cancel to keep it.

Deleted tags cannot be restored.
