Cogynt for Case Managers
As a case manager, you direct a team of analysts to conduct an investigation. To this end, most of your work will be done in Cogynt Analyst Workstation. You will take advantage of Workstation's collaboration features to guide your team as they review and analyze Cogynt's findings. You can then compile the investigation's results into customizable PDF reports to share with decision-makers or other relevant parties.
Your main tasks in Cogynt include:
- Defining your team's workflow.
- Monitoring collections.
- Reviewing collections.
- Creating reports of your team's analysis for archival and distribution.
Each of these tasks is outlined in greater detail in the sections to follow. Where applicable, links to the appropriate pages in Cogynt's documentation are provided.
Defining Workflows
In order to help your team work together and work effectively, you will want to establish consistent workflows for your team to follow. To this end, there are several features in Workstation you should employ to streamline your team's collaboration:
- Create collections to gather relevant events and findings into a single convenient place. For more information, see Creating and Managing Collections in the Cogynt Workstation User Guide, as well as the sample project Case Research with Collections.
- Assign statuses and tags to collections, notifications, or system events. Tags provide means of labeling and contextualizing particular items. Deciding which tags should be used for your cases can make it easier for your team to classify, sort, and browse through findings. For more information, see Exploring Event Notifications, Filtering Collections, and System Notifications in the Cogynt Workstation User Guide.
- Configure system notifications to alert your team when important events occur. For more information, see System Notifications in the Cogynt Workstation User Guide.
- Customize Workstation and its workspaces to suit your team's preferences and needs. For more information, see Managing Workstation in the Cogynt Workstation User Guide.
- Determine priority for high-risk or high-impact events so that your team understands which events demand their attention. Start by creating a collection for an event and setting the priority accordingly. Then attach the event to the collection.
Monitoring Collections
Since collections are where your team will compile their findings, you will need to monitor the state of your collections to verify your project is moving in the right direction. You might perform the following monitoring tasks:
- Assign users the collection to ensure the right team members are working on it. For more information, see Assigning Users to Collections in the Cogynt Workstation User Guide.
- Take notice of any relevant system notifications. For more information, see Viewing System Notifications in the Cogynt Workstation User Guide.
Reviewing Collections
Once work on a collection is completed, you will want to review the collection for quality and accuracy before passing along its findings to decision-makers. For more information, see Collaborating on Collections and Filtering Collections in the Cogynt Workstation User Guide.
Creating Reports
When it comes time to share or archive your investigation's findings outside of Cogynt, you will use Workstation's Report Builder to create detailed PDFs documenting what you have uncovered.
For more information, see Report Builder in the Cogynt Workstation User Guide.
