Managing Roles and Groups

To manage roles and groups, the following permissions are required:

  • User Management: Groups: Edit
  • User Management: Roles: Edit

Creating Roles

To create a role:

  1. From the left side drawer, click Roles.
  2. Click + New Role to create a new role.
  3. In the popup, enter the desired title for the role.
  4. Enable the desired permissions allowed for this role.
  5. Click Ok to save the role's title and create it.

Creating Groups

To create a group that users can be assigned to:

  1. From the left side drawer, click Groups.
  2. Click the + New Group to create a new group.
  3. In the popup, enter the desired title for the group.
  4. Enable the desired permissions allowed for this group.
  5. Click Ok to save the group's title and create it.

Defining Default Roles

The default role is assigned to any users who log in once it is defined. Super_Admin is the default role for new installations of Cogynt. Once all users have logged in to Cogynt, create a role to serve as the default role, then select that role as the default.

To define a default role:

  1. Click the Default Role icon. A modal popup opens that contains a dropdown menu.
  2. Select the name of the role that should be assigned as the Default Role.

Note

Only Super Admin users can change the default role

Future users created in Cogynt will receive this default role.

Editing Roles

To edit an existing role:

  1. From the left side drawer, click Roles.
  2. Click the desired role to edit. A modal appears for the selected role or group.
  3. Make the desired changes to the permissions allowed for this role.
  4. Click Update.

Editing Groups

To edit an existing group:

  1. From the left side drawer, click Groups.
  2. Click the desired group to edit. A modal appears for the selected role or group.
  3. Make the desired changes to the permissions allowed for this group.
  4. Click Update.

Deleting Roles

Roles that are no longer necessary can be deleted.

note

A role can only be deleted if there are currently 0 users assigned to it.

To delete a role:

  1. From the left side drawer, click Roles.
  2. Locate the desired role to delete.
  3. Click the three-dot menu followed by Delete to delete the role.
  4. In the confirmation dialog, click Yes to confirm the deletion.

Deleting Groups

Groups that are no longer necessary can be deleted.

A group can only be deleted if there are currently 0 users assigned to it.

To delete a group:

  1. From the left side drawer, click Groups.
  2. Locate the desired group to delete.
  3. Click the three-dot menu followed by Delete to delete the role.
  4. In the confirmation dialog, click Yes to confirm the deletion.
